The heat exchanger determines the pipe or shell path of some media. The properties of medium, temperature or pressure, allowable pressure drop, scaling and heat transfer coefficient should be considered comprehensively. Corrosive, toxic, high temperature or pressure media, and very easy to scale media should go, corrosive media go shell side, shell side material will be subject to corrosion, so the general corrosive media go pipe, can reduce the requirements of shell side material; Toxic medium running path reduces the chance of leakage; High temperature and pressure can reduce the requirement of shell side material, and the scale is easy to clean in the pipe side. The heat exchanger is determined by the heat transfer coefficient of the membrane on both sides. If there is a big difference, the shell path with a small film heat transfer coefficient can be used to enhance the heat transfer facilities outside the tube, such as threaded tube or finned tube. It is beneficial to increase the total heat transfer coefficient and make full use of the pressure drop. The cross section and direction of the flow passage in the shell side of the heat exchanger are constantly changing, and the baffle can be set, which is easy to reach the turbulence. Re>100 is the turbulence, while Re>10000 is the turbulence. Therefore, the fluids with high viscosity or low flow rate, namely Re low, are selected in the shell side. If the turbulence condition can be reached in the pipe path, it is more reasonable to arrange the pipe path. The choice from the Angle of pressure drop is also favorable for the small shell path of Re.
