Purpose of setting the retaining pipe and baffle in the plate heat exchanger

Heat exchanger manufacturers will install baffles and bypass baffles for heat exchangers when producing flat heat exchangers. The main purpose is to avoid short circuit of fluid flow rate. If some of the fluids involved in the heat exchange flow out from the main stream, short-circuiting by the gap of the equipment, the speed and heat transfer coefficient of the vehicle will be reduced; and the bypass fluid is not short-circuited by heat exchange to the outlet and mixed with the main stream. Inevitably, the fluid outlet temperature cannot reach the expected value.


The flat-plate heat exchanger blocks the blocked pipe at both ends, and each retaining pipe occupies a heat exchange pipe, and is installed at the position behind the split baffle, but should not be placed at the gap of the baffle . The retaining pipe does not pass through the pipe plate. Generally, a retaining pipe is placed every 3 to 4 rows of pipes, and the retaining pipe can also be replaced by a pulling rod of the fixed distance pipe.


The plate heat exchanger bypass baffle is typically embedded in the baffle groove and welded thereto to reduce fluid shorting in the outer ring gap of the tube bundle. In practice, it is proved that the function of the installation baffle and the bypass baffle can be prominent only when the heat transfer coefficient of the shell-side fluid is controlled during the heat exchange process, and the ratio of the bypass area to the shell-side flow area is larger. The more obvious the installation effect.
