Problems that may occur in the use of plate heat exchanger

1. Scaling and scaling can reduce the heat transfer coefficient of heat transfer equipment and, in severe cases, block the plate channel. Plate heat exchanger plate of design has a lot of supporting points, aimed at turbulence on medium (medium turbulence) in order to improve the heat transfer coefficient and pressure on the supporting role, is the place that solid impurities and fiber easy agglomeration, the side effect is to make the fluid formed the local stagnation and generate dirt deposition of tumor, medium after the precipitation of calcium and magnesium ions in the appropriate temperature easily on the deposition of tumor to grow up, honeycombing scale sample.


Although the causes of clogging and scaling are different, their effects on plate heat exchangers are the same. The following measures can be taken to alleviate structural problems:


(1) Plate heat exchangers should not be used in dirty or scale-prone environments (unless effective other measures are added).


(2) When using unsoftened cooling water as the cooling medium, the operating temperature should be controlled at about 50℃ or lower to avoid the sensitive temperature of calcium and magnesium ions precipitation in the medium.


2. The leakage of disassembled plate heat exchanger under rated working pressure is mainly related to abnormal impact load (water hammer, air hammer) in the system, in addition to the quality factor of equipment in manufacturing and assembly, which is not easy to be observed by the general operator. The instantaneous pressure peak caused by the impact is often 1 ~ 3 times higher than the normal working pressure, which makes the rubber gasket installed in the plate heat exchanger shift, resulting in the seal failure.
